Eleven Western Builders, Inc. is a family-owned, retail general contractor serving the Western United States since 1983.

What sets us apart from other contractors? It’s the people who make up EWB. We pride ourselves on hiring, training, and retaining the best individuals in the business to then create the best teams in the business.

Our General Contracting Division builds everything from car washes and quick service restaurants to grocery stores, shopping centers and other retail facilities along with hotels and even apartment complexes. This list along with our client-base grows larger and becomes more diverse every year.

Our Retail Construction Division services smaller projects like open-store remodels, ADA work and more.

Our Maintenance Division provides a single point of contact for all expected and unexpected servicing necessary throughout your building’s lifetime. When you partner with Eleven Western Builders, you truly get a building partner for life. There’s no need to look for third party maintenance, repairs, etc.

At Eleven Western Builders, we build and develop teams to identify and fulfill the needs and expectations of our clients, subcontractors, corporate family, and community.

We understand that in construction, there’s a long and critical path between contract and final product. It takes a team filled with motivated, talented, and hardworking people to ensure all necessary steps are taken throughout the lifespan of a project. We believe that the best way to produce a successful build is to work together, communicate and cooperate with our subcontractors and other building partners, and provide clarity every step of the way to our clients. 1983



The doors open at Eleven Western Builders with an initial staff of only eleven individuals dedicated to providing fast, quality construction for targeted groups of clients. Eleven Western Builders grew rapidly, gaining a reputation as an expert in fast-track retail construction, with an emphasis on grocery stores and restaurants.

1987



Eleven Western Builders opens their Millwork Division. This expansion allows them to self-perform millwork, casework, and décor manufacturing and installation.

1994



Eleven Western Builders expands their client base to include big-box retailers. On-time grand openings and in-budget construction cost continued to cement their position as a preferred builder with prominent construction managers.

2000



The expanding project team moves into its current corporate home. The new location includes an expansive on-site millwork shop.

2002



Client feedback inspires continued diversification, and the Retail Service division begins to take shape. Fixtures, cases and refrigeration, maintenance services, and other special projects are now completed in-house by team members trained specifically for these tasks. This specialization continues to distinguish Eleven Western Builders from other contractors and helps save time and money for their clients.

2005



To better support their expanding presence throughout California and the Western United States, Eleven Western Builders opens a satellite office in the Sacramento area.

Eleven Western Builders now employs over one hundred dedicated, accomplished, and personable men and women. Team members start each day with a deep sense of team spirit and a desire to excel.

The continued growth of Eleven Western Builders is tied directly to the caliber of its staff. Administration, field operations, estimators, supervisors, and managers alike possess the skills and motivation necessary to be successful in the work they perform. Eleven Western Builders understands that project success begins by assembling the right team of people who understand the uniqueness of every project.

    After 25 years of service, Eleven Western surpasses $1 billion in revenue. The future looks brighter than ever.

  • 2014

    With demand increases and additional opportunities in the market, the Maintenance division is born. Beginning with WinCo and eventually broadening their client base to include many other names, Eleven Western now offers a more complete service than ever.

  • 2018

    After years of focusing mostly on the retail sector, Eleven Western breaks ground on their first hotel project. At just under 70,000 square feet, Natomas Towneplace Suites by Marriott is eventually built into existence by EWB.

  • 2019

    After 30 years with the company, Greg McDonald is named President of Eleven Western Builders. His expertise and experience are priceless as he works hand in hand with Rick Backus (CEO) and Richard Huey (CFO) to ensure that Eleven Western Builders consistently exceeds client expectations. As the first hotel project wraps up, Eleven Western surpasses $2 billion in revenue and has a year full of milestones. With a healthy balance sheet and seasoned leadership, Eleven Western is positioned well in the market.

  • 2020

    To better serve its client base and allow for more flexibility, The Mill Shop, Inc. is officially spun off from Eleven Western. Their company mission? Designing, crafting, and installing the finest commercial millwork and casework, quickly, at a reasonable price.

  • 2021

    In January of 2021 Eleven Western opens its doors for the first time in Arizona with a satellite office to better meet growing demand for its services in the Western United States.

  • 2022

    Recognizing the need for more manpower and more servicing capability in their Nor Cal region, Eleven Western Builders takes yet another step and expands their office in Sacramento to support future growth.
